Precious variation of the classic “sachertorte,” which is transformed into a spoon dessert. The dessert is made with fine cocoa, cream, apricot cubes and our extra apricot jam. A refined end to a meal or a great interlude, ready to enjoy. Will keep out of the refrigerator until opened.
Enjoy with a teaspoon straight from the jar. For serving at the table, remove the cream from the sides with a knife then invert onto a small plate and decorate with toffee or slices of fresh apricot or our Cascina San Cassiano apricots in syrup.
The “Sachertorte” is said to have been created in Vienna by pastry chef Franz Sacher in 1832. The then young pastry chef was filling in for a sick chef that day, and he was assigned the task of preparing a not-too-sweet chocolate cake in honor of a dinner for Prince Klemens von Metternich. In order not to make a mistake, he decided to combine classic and tried-and-true ingredients , such as chocolate and apricot jam to create a pleasing cake with a distinctive taste. The recipe was highly appreciated and from that day it took its creator’s name and became the most famous and imitated chocolate cake in the world. It seems that the original recipe remained secret and is kept in the safe in the pastry shop of the Sacher Hotel in Vienna.
