Red fruits preserve (red currant, strawberry and pomegranate)

A mix of superfruits prepared only with currant, strawberry, pomegranate and brown sugar. The pomegranate is said to have originated in Persia or the Caucasus where it was grown already 5000 years ago. The Egyptians used the pomegranate as a medicine, as a symbol of fertility. In the Koran the pomegranate is considered one of the rewards for those who reach Heaven. For the Greeks the pomegranate tree was born from the blood of Bacchus “shaken” by the passion for Venus. In Italy, Renaissance painters drew the fruit in the hand of the baby Jesus to allude to the “new life” given to humanity. In classical times the beans were held in high regard for their diuretic and tonic therapeutic qualities; recent studies have shown that the juice brings cardiovascular and astringent benefits.
